Hi, I’m Carmel Grant, the designer behind the Paper Doll Books. I am an artist based in Waterford City Ireland, who creates caricatures and humorous designs for gifts, wedding invitation cards and promotional materials.

During the first Covid-19 lockdown, I found comfort in watching nostalgic 80s and 90s films. Inspired by childhood memories and knowing that families were adjusting to home learning and long days inside, I began designing free printable paper dolls to spark creativity and fun.

The positive response I received from parents and children who played with my first paper doll designs during lockdown, motivated me to develop the Paper Doll Book collection.

I love designing these books, knowing they can give children a break from screens and inspire imaginative creative playful moments. My goal is simple: to bring a little joy, imagination, and nostalgia into children’s lives, one paper doll at a time.

Celebrating Creative Milestones

Since their release in May 2025, the Paper Doll Books have received wonderful recognition and national press coverage. Carmel Grant Designs was named a Best Newcomer finalist at the Business of Crafts Awards at Showcase Ireland 2026, and earned a place on the prestigious Design Craft Council of Ireland “The Edit” Shortlist.

The feedback has been incredibly encouraging, and I’m so grateful for the continued support as the Paper Doll Books journey continues to grow.
